Omar Ata Bandial, disposed of 8,796 cases in 243 days as the head of the bench
Islamabad: (Dunya News) The Supreme Court of Pakistan has released the data of cases from 2nd February 2022 to 1st February 2023, which indicates a decrease in pending cases.
According to the Supreme Court, a total of 22,843 cases were resolved in the past year whereas 20,707 cases were registered in the same tenure. On 2nd February 2022, there were 54,706 pending cases, which reduced to 52,590 on 1st February 2023.
As per the statement, a decrease of 2,116 cases was noticed in the total number of pending cases in Supreme Court. It is the first time in the past 10 years that a decline in the number of pending cases was observed. Since 2013, the number of pending cases in the Supreme Court were soaring every year.
The decrease of 1,722 cases was noticed for the first in December 2022. Chief Justice of Pakistan, Omar Ata Bandial, disposed of 8,796 cases in 243 days as the head of the bench.
Furthermore, Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan resolved 4,664 cases in 247 days, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood resolved 3,126 cases in 158 days, and Justice Qazi Faez Isa resolved 1,323 cases in 188 days.
