KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday wrote to the ECP to withdraw its decision of freezing voters’ lists ahead of general elections.
MQM convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui wrote a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja wherein he requested the election chief to continue the process of updating electoral rolls. “We have to ensure the addition of people over 18 years of age to the rolls,” he wrote.
The freezing of the rolls would be akin to depriving people of the right to vote, he wrote. “It is a question mark on the fairness of elections,” he added.
