Islamabad police chief appears in LHC in Fawad's arrest case
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A day after Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial had to explain his 'good to see you' remark he used while hearing PTI leader Imran Khan's case, the cordial words seem to have gone viral as they echoed in the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday.
As the Islamabad IGP appeared in the Islamabad High Court in connection with hearing of a case filed by PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry against his arrest, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb addressed him and said, “Mr IG! Good to see you.” Everyone in the court room burst into laughter over the cordial remark by the judge.
A day earlier (Tuesday), the chief justice, in his explanatory statement, had said his words were misconstrued.
“I respect everyone and address all the people appearing in my court in the same way,” he said.
The PDM leaders, especially those of the PML-N, have taunted the chief justice of Pakistan over his alleged soft corner for Imran Khan and granting him relief by declaring his arrest illegal.
When the former prime minister was produced in the Supreme Court after his arrest, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial addressed him as ‘Good to see you’ - a remark which became controversial.
