NADRA launches sexual offenders' identification facility

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new service to identify sexual offenders affecting children and women.
NADRA has prepared a national registry of sexual offenders, the department will also provide the facility of verification of offenders through SMS to expedite the tracing and tracking of individuals who have been punished for sexual crimes using their identification data.
The Chairman NADRA said that the facility is meant to provide a better platform for institutions to prevent sexual violence.Departments and Institutions hiring such employees will be notified through verification SMS.
He said that citizens should confirm such things before employing someone in their homes, mosques, colleges, and universities. The record can be verified by sending identification card number on short code 7000.
The Chairman NADRA stated that upon sending the identification number of a culprit having previous record, the sender will receive a message stating "Name and father's name, beware! This person is a criminal, do not allow him to go near children."
