Gen Asim Munir says Pakistan determined to support CPEC, values relations with China
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Army Chief General Asim Munir said on Sunday that he was committed to fully support the CPEC project and valued strategic relations with China.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Chinese Foreign Minister met Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir at GHQ Rawalpindi. During the meeting, issues of mutual interest and regional security situation were discussed. Defence cooperation was also discussed in the meeting.
During the meeting, Army Chief General Asim Munir said that Pakistan was determined to fully support the strategic relations with China and the CPEC project. The Army Chief also appreciated China's role in supporting Pakistan on regional and global issues.
According to ISPR, the Chinese foreign minister stressed the importance of long-term strategic relations between the two countries. The Chinese Foreign Minister also expressed his satisfaction over the progress on the CPEC projects and his determination to complete the projects on time.
The Chinese Foreign Minister also appreciated the role of the armed forces in the CPEC projects for the security of the Chinese people.
The spokesman of the Pakistan Army said that the Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan also met the Army Chief. On this occasion, the relations between the two countries and the border management were discussed.
