Interim CM Naqvi visits Nishtar hospital-two, expresses displeasure over slow pace of work

MULTAN (Dunya News) – The Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi expressed his disappointment at the slow pace of work at Nishtar Hospital-two in Multan during his visit on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by Provincial Minister Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Dr. Javed Akram, Provincial Information Minister Amir Mir, commissioner Multan division, and other officials.

During the visit, the caretaker Punjab CM inspected various blocks of the hospital and appointed commissioner multan division as the focal person to ensure the completion of civil works within the stipulated deadline.

He also instructed Dr. Javed Akram and the secretary to visit the project every week.

Mr. Naqvi directed the project to be worked on day and night in three shifts and asked for a timeline of daily work progress to be submitted to the commissioner's office. He emphasised that the commissioner had complete authority to act indiscriminately against those who do not work.

He stressed the need to start horticulture work simultaneously, and resolved the issue of LC. Mr. Naqvi warned that any delay in the completion of the project will not be tolerated, as the completion of Nishtar-two would help to reduce the burden on Nishtar Hospital.

Commissioner Multan Aamir Khattak briefed the officials that the tendering process for the purchase of machinery with civil works has been completed, and Rs9.45 billion has been released by the Punjab government. Rs6.12 billion have already been spent on the Nishtar-two project, which is built on 58 acres of land.

He further stated that the electricity and other installations have already started inside the building, and the work of laundry, radiology, and medical gas highline system has been awarded.

Additionally, the gray structure of the hospital building, cafeteria’s, and outer gates have already been completed.

Commissioner Multan also revealed that in the first phase of the project, a 500-bed hospital will be made functional.

This phase will include 120 emergency trauma beds, 120 neuro-arthro beds, 50 ICU beds, 100 beds for mother and child, and 110 beds for medical surgery.

Ten modular theaters are also being constructed in Nishtar-two, earmarked for surgery.

The caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi directed all officials to work diligently and ensure that the project is completed as soon as possible, to benefit the people of Multan and surrounding areas.
