Four dead, 20 injured in two separate blasts in Quetta

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Hours after a blast claimed four lives and left 18 injured at Shahrah-e-Iqbal, another balst on Munir Badini road on Monday injured two persons taking the number of the injured to 20 in a day.

The blast on Munir Badini road in the area of Sariab also caused extensive damage to a police van. After the explosion, police and security forces quickly cordoned off the area to launch an investigation.

SHO Sariab was unharmed in the blast, but the police van was severely damaged. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Sources said the explosive device used in the attack weighed up to two kilograms.

Earlier, two policemen among four poeple were martyred and 18 other people suffered injuries after a blast occured near a police van.

According to police’s statement, the explosion occurred at Shahrah-e-Iqbal and it claimed four lives - two policemen among them. It also damaged vehicles and motorbikes close to the van. The deceased were shifted to hospital, said police.

SSP Operations Captain (retd) Zohaib Mohsin said the police van was the target. "The explosives, weighing up to four kilos, were planted in a motorcycle", he added.

Two injured were in critical condition, the SSP had said. Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed the responsibility for the attack. 

The local authorities condemned the attacks and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
