Pakistan
Complainant says the judges had committed violation of Article 209
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A complaint has been filed in the Supreme Judicial Council against four judges of the Supreme Court, including Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, over alleged misconduct.
Advocate Sardar Salman lodged the complaint against the CJP, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, claiming that the jurists had violated the Article 209 of the Constitution.
The complainant has requested the SJC to remove the chief justice and other three judges from their positions and sent the copies of complaint to all members of the council.
The development comes as the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, the Pakistan Peoples Party and other parties are openly demanding the resignation of the country’s top judge following a verdict on elections in Punjab.
