Will sit for talks if someone is 'really' interested
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar on Tuesday claimed that the government was being asked to dissolve the National Assembly at the earliest.
Talking to the media, he said he called on PM Shehbaz Sharif adding that another round of consultations would take place. “These times demand moving forward with collective wisdom”, he added. The judiciary and the parliament, he said, had their distinct responsibilities.
He went on the say that there was neither a constitutional nor legal crisis in the country adding that there was only a crisis of behaviours. “It is just a little demand to have either Supreme Court’s topmost judges included or constitute a full court while deciding cases of national importance”, he added. A voice from inside the SC, he said, had been raised against the CJP Umar Ata Bandial’s discretionary powers.

Replying to a question regarding the civil society’s attempts to bring the government and the PTI on a negotiating table, the law minister replied some people including prominent journalist Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami, Imtiaz Alam, Hina Jilani, PBC chairman Haroonur Rasheed were registering good attempts adding such attempts should be made if it was intended to take the country on the path of progress.
He continued saying that split elections would create a political crisis in the country adding that the country needed political stability to achieve economic stability. “The ECP is not running away from elections but a level playing field should be ensured after sitting together”, he added. The system should not be compromised, he said, for one person’s ego.
Mr Tarar said when a question was raised against dissolving Punjab and KP assemblies in the court, it was thrown under the rug. “We can sit if someone is “really” willing to talk”, he added.
