UAE president's Islamabad visit postponed owing to bad weather

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had to receive the UAE President at the Noor Khan Airbase today

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan s visit to the federal capital was postponed after harsh weather conditions and rain in Bahawalpur district on Monday.  

The UE president was earlier scheduled to land at the Noor Khan airbase on a day s visit. The security didn t allow the UAE president s plane to take off at 7:30am because of bad weather. 

Sources said the new schedule of his visit would be announced in days to come. 

Sheikh Mohammed contacted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and expressed his excuse for not visiting the federal capital. He assured that he would visit Islamabad for two days. 

Earlier, Sheikh Mohammed was to be escorted by JF-17 aircrafts to the PAF Noor Khan Air Base where the distinguished guest was to be be given a 21-gun salute. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and important members of the federal cabinet were supposed to welcome the distinguished guest at the air base.

The UAE president arrived in Pakistan on Jan 25, 2023. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed him at the Rahim Yar Khan airport. There was also a meeting between the two leaders in Rahim Yar Khan. 

The federal government had announced holiday in the capital city on Jan 30 (today) ahead of the visit of United Arab Emirates (UAE) president Shaikh Muhammad Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan to the city.
