PM Gilani has made an appeal to world community to help Govt in flood relief.
In his televised address, the prime minister drew the international community’s attention to the worst flood situation in Sindh.He dilated on the relief activities launched by the government thus far to provide relief to the marooned people. He also referred to the earlier appeal made to the international community by President Asif Ali Zardari.The PM recounted the huge devastation caused by floods on the vast swaths of land. He said the current rains are 142 percent more than the last rains. He said 141 people have lost lives while crops over 170000 acres of land have been destroyed, over 6400000 livestock have drowned, while over 4 million people have become homeless in 21 districts.He said the government is using all its resources for the help of the flood affectees, therefore the nation and the international community must come forward to expedite relief and rehabilitation activities.
