Mansoor Awan refuses to serve as AGP

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Renowned lawyer Mansoor Usman Awan on Thursday recused himself from becoming the new Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) after the resignation of Ashtar Ausaf.

Sources privy to the matter said that Mansoor Usman Awan cited personal reasons for his decision not to accept the post. Upon this, the federal government has now started reviewing new names for the AGP slot.

Despite approval from president Arif Alvi on December 24, Mansoor’s appointment notification had not yet been issued. While a division bench of the Supreme Court led by Justice Qazi Faez Isa took notice of the delay in appointing the new AGP, sources added.
