Punjab CTD arrested Johar Town blast suspects, Sanaullah has no role: top official

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Counter Terrorism Department Additional IG Imran Mahmood on Friday claimed that Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had nothing to with the arrests of the Johar Town bomb blast as all accused of the case had been arrested by the CTD.

In a video, the officer was responding to a question about the press conference of Rana Sanaullah, which disclosed the details of the arrests of the accused. The Punjab CTD chief said the case was registered with a CTD police station and the investigation process was also carried out by its officials. He thanked the Punjab government and Chief Minister Parvez Elahi for assisting the investigations and providing necessary aid.

The additional IG said the Punjab CTD had got incontrovertible proof of India and RAW’s involvement in the Johar Town blast and presented it before the world. He said the case had been worked out one and-a-half year ago but the investigation team took time to get evidence against the RAW agent, his identification and red warrant.

On Dec 13, citing Kulbhushan Yadav as the biggest proof, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said India was involved in every terrorist activity in Pakistan. Briefing the press on the internal security situation of the country at a joint press conference with Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Additional Inspector General Imran Mehmood, Mr Sanaullah said the Taliban chapter involved in terrorist activities in the country was backed by India. He said India was involved in a bomb attack outside Hafiz Saeed’s residence and the presence of police outside the house halted the bomber.

Criticising India over atrocities in Kashmir, he said the neighbouring country inflicted the worst cruelties on Kashmiris.

AIG Imran said the CTD traced and arrested all those involved in the Johar Town bomb blast which resulted in the killing of three and injured 22 others. Peter Paul David, Sajad Hussain and Ziaullah were involved in the blast, he said. He said Samiul Haq, Zia’s brother, received terror financing from India. Naveed and Saleem were the masterminds of the attack and Samiul Haq had been working with India’s spy agency RAW since 2012.
