Pakistan keen to further deepen cooperation with Central Asian States: PM

A nine-member parliamentary delegation of Kazakhstan called on PM Shehbaz Sharif on Monday.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A nine-member parliamentary delegation of Kazakhstan led by Chairman of Mazhilis of the Parliament, Yerlan Koshanov called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Monday.

Highlighting the special nature of Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations, the Prime Minister underscored that Pakistan is keen to further deepen cooperation with the Central Asian states, particularly Kazakhstan.

He stressed on establishing and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy, transport, and transit trade and logistics sectors.

Shehbaz Sharif said he looks forward to visit of Kazakh President as Pakistan would soon be hosting a summit of the leaders of Central Asian States that would focus on connectivity through road and rail links to boost regional trade and investment.

Speaking on the occasion, Yerlan Koshanov underlined the need for exchange of parliamentary delegations that would further promote people-to-people exchanges between the two brotherly countries.

He said Kazakhstan can benefit from the huge Pakistani market and showed keen interest in bilateral trade and cooperation in connectivity, pharmaceuticals industry and surgical and sports goods.

He said current bilateral trade between Pakistan and Kazakhstan is only 95 million dollars which needs to be enhanced as per its huge potential.
