COAS’ appointment: Khawaja Asif terms news reports as ‘speculations’
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Friday said that the news circulating about the appointment of the Army Chief is merely based on speculations.
Taking to Twitter, the defence minister said that no decision was made about COAS’ appointment during the meeting between PM Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif. He added that consultations were made in this regard, but the decision will be made after the start of the constitutional process with consultations.

On the other side, an important meeting of the PML-N top brass was held in London, during which PM Shehbaz Sharif, party supremo Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and other PML-N leaders were present. During the meeting, views were exchanged on different matters, including the COAS’ appointment and the PTI’s long march.
During the meeting between PM Shehbaz and Nawaz, it was decided that the PDM leadership would also be consulted on any decisions made during the meeting.
