Gas shortfall above 1b cubic feet

According to Petroleum Ministry, gas shortfall has reached above 1billion cubic feet in the country.

According to 18th Amendment, 50 percent of gas resources will go to the province, while 50 percent will go to the federation. Balochistan is the major producer of gas, while Sindh and KP are at second and third number respectively.Punjab’s share in gas production is minor, but it reportedly consumes more. Sindh and KP moved a petition in a court, seeking end to gas load shedding in the provinces. The court has ordered to end the load shedding in these provinces.According to the SNGPL formula, provision of gas to domestic and commercial sector is top priority, while an agreement has been signed that gas will be provided to power and industrial sector for nine months. Gas shortfall in Punjab has reached 600 MMCDF. The experts have demanded transparent system of gas supply.
