Pakistan likely to exit FATF's grey list

BERLIN (Dunya News) - Pakistan is likely to exit from Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list as FATF’s plenary meeting is concluding in Berlin on Friday.
As per sources of finance ministry, the recent updates on the plenary meeting in Berlin show good signs of a decision in Pakistan s favour. While the consent and consolation of other countries in the meeting is also significant. FATF can vote against keeping Pakistan in grey list.
Pakistan will have to submit a compilation report in the last week of June regarding all 27 task while a delegation of FATF will come to Pakistan for the on-site visit.
The on-site visit team of FATF can come to Pakistan in last week of July and will visit all the related institutions. FATF meeting in Berlin also praised Pakistan for their efforts.
The plenary meeting of the FATF has reviewed the compilation report of Pakistan with regard to the tasks assigned by the anti-money laundering body.
It was discussed that Pakistan has implemented 27 out of 27 items on the action plan they first committed to in June 2018 meeting of FATF after which the chances of Pakistan getting out of the grey list have become clear.
Pakistan has been on the grey list for deficiencies in its counter-terror financing and anti-money laundering regimes since June 2018.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar says pre-judging the outcome of FATF plenary meeting and speculative reporting in this regard should be avoided.
In a tweet on Friday, she said the FATF Plenary meetings are continuing in Berlin, Germany and FATF will issue a Public Statement after conclusion of the meetings tonight.
The Minister of State said a media briefing will also be held at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad tomorrow morning on the issue.
