No proposal under consideration to increase power tariff: Khurram Dastgir
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Federal Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir on Monday termed the financial issues as the reason for load shedding and said that no proposal is under consideration to increase power tariff next month.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, he said the government is working efficiently to meet the energy needs of the country and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will announce a comprehensive plan for this sector.
The coalition cabinet is taking all possible steps to resolve issues being face by the general public, he added.
He said that due to financial issues the country is suffering from energy crisis as the country is facing 2460 billion rupees of circular dept in this sector. He said the government is taking bold steps to reduce its dependency on expensive imported fuels.
He said that the technology being used in coal plants will be changed and Pakistan’s energy needs will be met by hydro, Thar Coal, solar and wind.
The Minister said that next general elections are expected to be held in October next year.
