Govt hints at bringing ordinance to extend NAB chief's tenure

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Federal government has hinted to bring ordinance to extend the tenure of Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal.

Talking to Dunya News program, ‘Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath’ Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem said that no final decision has been taken yet regarding the extension of NAB Chairman, adding there were definitely talks of his extension.

Continuing, he said that for the appointment of chairman NAB, there should be consultation between the prime minister and the leader of the opposition under Article 6-B1 of the Constitution. The decision will be made in a week, he added.

The minister said that consultation would be held regarding extension of NAB chairman’s tenure.

Farogh Naseem said that NAB Prosecutor General Asghar Haider was doing a great job, adding he did not want to take extension.
