Protest held outside hotel in London during Junaid Safdar's Nikkah ceremony

LONDON (Dunya News) – A protest was held outside a luxurious hotel in London during the Nikkah (Wedding) ceremony of PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz’s son Junaid Safdar on Sunday.

Carrying placards of former premier Nawaz Sharif on the occasion, the demonstrators chanted slogans against him. The protestors also recorded a unique style demonstration by playing drums.

A scuffle was also broke out between PML-N workers and protesters. The PML-N workers also snatched posters from the protesters.

On the other hand, Nikkah ceremony of Junaid Safdar Awan has been started in a luxurious hotel. Nawaz Sharif, the maternal grandfather of the groom, has also reached the hotel to attend the lead the wedding in the absence of his parents—Maryam Nawaz and Safdar Awan.

Junaid Safdar s parents Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar will not attend the wedding because their names were included in the no-fly list following the corruption cases against them.

Earlier, Junaid Safdar s Nikah had been fixed on August 22. Junaid Safdar is getting married to Ayesha Saif, the daughter of Saif ur Rehman.

It is pertinent to mention here that Saif ur Rehman who served as chairman of the Ehtisab Bureau (1997-99) during the second term of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

Maryam Nawaz had also confimred the reports through her social media micro-blogging website twitter account. “My son Junaid’s nikah with Ayesha Saif-ur-Rahman Khan will take place in London on 22nd August Insha’Allah. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the ceremony owing to blatant victimisation, bogus cases and my name on ECL,” she said.

In another tweet, she also maintained, “I was in jail when my beloved mother passed away and now I won’t be able to share my son’s happiness, but, I will NOT make any request to this government for travel abroad. I leave the matter to Almighty Allah.”
