Victim of Minar-e-Pakistan incident tells what 400 men did to her
(Web Desk) - Countless men harassed and assaulted a helpless female TikToker Ayesha Akram on Independence Day in front of the Minar-e-Pakistan. The victim has come forward to narrate her ordeal.
Ayesha Akram, the victim, described what happened in an interview with private media following the incident.
She said, that lots of guys came to us for selfies that day, the situation was fine when they were taking selfies. She said, then they pushed us around, a security guard at the gate said he would let me in but they [crowed] came running to my side when I stepped inside. Their push made me fall down, she added.
Ayesha said that there was a lake nearby, and I could have jumped into it to save myself, the rest of my team was also of the opinion that I would be much safer there. I did not jump because the water was very deep there, she added.
The police did not respond to our calls, she said adding that the mob tortured her from 6:30 pm to 9 pm. My hair was pulled and people asked me to get up, saying I was faking it, she said.
The woman, completely shattered by the incident, said that it is impossible for a woman to be safe anywhere in the world if she is not safe in her own city. She further added, “Yes, I went there for a while, I wanted to go there, I am not forbidden from going there just because I am a YouTuber or a Tiktoker. But nobody had the right to strip me naked”.
“A woman’s life ends when such a thing is done publicly to her. My body was being played with and tortured. My body is covered in bruises. What I did to deserve this, she asked.
“The clothes I wore were not vulgar. I have never made a vulgar video or worn a vulgar outfit. I was wearing a proper dress that I had specially made for the August 14. All my clothes were removed before I could get a grasp of what was happening.”
The victim added that some people did try to help me. However, when one would put clothes on her, the others would pull them off. “Many of their faces are still etched into my memory, but there were thousands of men,” she said adding I am not even able to watch my own videos.”
She said that if I am speaking in front of the world, I am not speaking for myself, what was supposed to happen to me has happened, I appeal to Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed Khan and Prime Minister Imran Khan to do something to stop rape of girls.
“I demand that Iqbal Park should be closed on August 14 or there should be no entry without family at all. If it happened to me today, it could happen to someone else tomorrow,” she added.
