CAA decides to give status of international airport to Skardu Airport

Foreign air carriers would likely to be allowed to operate unlimited weekly flights from Skardu.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Civil Aviation Authority (CCA) of Pakistan had decided to give Skardu Airport the status of international airport, Dunya News reported.

According to sources, the airport in Skardu is being upgraded to international standards for international flights. The Skardu Airport would have an additional runway enabling wide-body aircraft to operate.

Skardu currently has an airport for domestic flights only. Skardu needs to be connected to international ATS routes in Pakistan.

Foreign air carriers would likely to be allowed to operate unlimited weekly flights from Skardu. The arrivals of international flights will boost tourism as well as the country s foreign exchange.
