Islamabad's PIMS Hospital at capacity amid surging Covid-19 cases

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The growing number of coronavirus patients has pushed hospitals across Pakistan to their limit, with the management of Islamabad’s PIMS hospital saying that they have run out of capacity for more patients.

In view of the worsening situation, the Joint Executive Director of PIMS Hospital has written a letter to the Dean stating that the hospital is under increased pressure following an increase in new coronavirus cases.

The letter states that coronavirus patients have to wait in emergency rooms for admission and the rise in patients has also multiplied pressure on the hospital’s Oxygen supply.

The Joint Executive Director further wrote that the hospital has postponed operations to conserve oxygen supply, adding that coronavirus patients will be transferred to the ICU where oxygen pressure can be maintained.

The letter appealed to the Ministry of Health to strengthen medical facilities in Islamabad while expanding facilities in other medical centers for the treatment of covid-19 patients.
