Number of police officials injured in religious party protest reaches 125
At least 141 activists of the religious party have been taken into custody by police.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The number of police officials injured due to torture during religious party protest in Lahore has climbed to 125, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.
According to details, the police officials of Civil Lines Division suffered the severe torture where one official embraced martyrdom while 53 officials sustained injuries.
The number of police officers and jawan injured in Cantt Division stands at 20. SHO Defence Police Station and SHO Manawan Police Station were among the injured police officials.
At least 18 officials of Model town Division sustained injuries due to torture during religious party protest while 14 officials of Iqbal Town Division including SHO Muslim Town Police Station and SHO Millat Park Police Station were wounded.
One police official of City Division embraced martyrdom and 12 officials sustained injuries during the protests while nine officials of Saddar Division were also wounded.
Besides, one vehicle was torched and windows of several vehicles were smashed during protests in the jurisdiction of North Cantt police station. Sources also informed that equipment of over a dozen anti-riot officials was also set ablaze by the protesters.
On the other hand, at least 141 activists of the religious party have been taken into custody by police.
