Re-polling in NA-75 Daska to be held on April 10
A close contest is on the cards between Nosheen Iftikhar of PML-N and Ali Asjad Malhi of PTI.
DASKA (Dunya News) - Preparations are in full swing to hold re-polling for the by-election in the National Assembly constituency NA-75 Daska on April 10 (Saturday), Dunya News reported.
A close contest is on the cards between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Nosheen Iftikhar and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Ali Asjad Malhi in the by-election.
Meanwhile, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has on Thursday made it mandatory for presiding officers and assistant presiding officers to keep smart phones with them during NA-75 Daska by-election.
The ECP has said in its directions that the presiding officers will be bound to take picture of Form-45 in presence of polling agents and send it to the concerned returning officer (RO).
The election commission has directed the presiding officers, who will also submit forensic details to the returning office, to keep their location service active. The presiding officers will reach the RO office in person in case of network problem.
Earlier, the Supreme Court on April 2 (Friday) had upheld the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision to hold re-polling in the entire National Assembly constituency NA-75 in Daska.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Umer Ata Bandial, heard the petition of PTI candidate Ali Asjad Malhi, challenging the ECP order of February 25, 2021, declaring the by-election at NA-75 Daska void and ordering re-polling in the whole constituency.
