LAHORE (Dunya News) – After a surge in coronavirus cases in Punjab, the provincial government has registered first case in Lahore over violation of coronavirus related standard operating procedures (SOPS),
As per details, the case has been registered against an individual for not wearing a face mask. The administration has also warned that the public transport caring passengers without masks will be closed.
According to Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Usman, those who do not wear masks will be detained and can be jailed for six months.
Earlier, a meeting was held at Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Office Lahore. The meeting was chaired by Lahore Police Chief Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, Commissioner Lahore Captain (retd) Muhammad Usman, DC Lahore. Mudassar Riaz Malik, DIG Operations Lahore Sajid Kayani, DIG Investigation Sharq Jamal, DIG Hassan Raza Khan attended the meeting.
Meeting decided to register cases against those who do not wear masks and ordered strict action against those who do not follow government guidelines. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said that government guidelines should be implemented at any cost.
Commissioner Lahore said that joint teams and control rooms have been set up, police and district administration should take joint action against violators of Coronavirus SOPs.
CCPO Lahore said that Coronavirus SOPs should be strictly enforced in marriage halls and public places. Public transport will operate at 50 percent of capacity. Compulsory mask-wearing will also be ensured and action has been ordered against the violators.
