President calls for cementing Pak-Brunei trade relations

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Dr Arif Alvi has underlined the need for increasing trade and economic relations with Brunei Darussalam.

Talking to the outgoing High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam, Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Mahmud Saidin, who called on him in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said both the brotherly countries need to diversify economic and trade relations for mutual benefit of two sides.

The President said Pakistan and Brunei Darussalam enjoy excellent relations deeply rooted in shared values, religious commonalities as well as shared aspirations for global peace and stability.

He added that Pakistan has a strong agriculture sector and Brunei could benefit of Pakistan s expertise in this sector.

The President emphasized the need for promoting people-to-people contacts as well as cultural exchanges that would greatly help in bringing the two brotherly countries further closer.

Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Mahmud Saidin highly praised the services of Pakistani doctors who has been doing commendable job for welfare of the people of Brunei, particularly during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
