Imran Khan said the government will complete its target of constructing five million houses.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday said people gave mandate to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for five years and its performance should be judged only after completion of the official tenure.

After addressing a ceremony in connection with handing over homes to laborers in Islamabad under the Naya Pakistan Housing Program, Imran Khan talked to media persons and said predictions were made time and again that PTI will fail when it assumed power.

The premier maintained that the government will complete its target of constructing five million houses as two new cities are being established. He said master plans are being prepared for the big cities which will encourage vertical construction.

He urged Sindh to also benefit from the incentives that have been given to the construction sector as provinces hold authority after the 18th Amendment. He said the government is committed to provide ease to the general public.

The PM said a grand operation is ongoing against the land grabbers in Punjab where two hundred billion rupees of land has been recovered. Imran Khan also announced to launch a plan next month regarding food security.

Earlier in his address, Imran Khabn said it is a great achievement to turn a 25-year-old project into reality.

The premier paid tribute to the efforts of special assistant Zulfi Bukhari and his team, and said Naya (new) Pakistan is in fact the name of new mindset. No one had thought that homes will be built for the poor, he added.

“The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is focusing on the progress of the underdeveloped which is their right. The laborers used to live on rent but they will now own their homes by paying the same amount in installments.

“The incumbent regime introduced new law – which took two years to get clearance from court – for easy loans for the construction of houses. This project would not have been possible without the involvement of banks.”

Zulfi Bukhari said the Naya Pakistan Housing Program is the best step for the poor as 508 families are being given homes under it. He told that the cost of one house is Rs 23.24 lac and possession is given on ten percent payment.

The beneficiaries can pay the remaining ninety percent in installments from five up to twenty years, he added.
