Govt focusing on connectivity, development, regional peace: Moeed

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Dr Moeed Yusuf has said the government is focusing on connectivity, development and regional peace.

Addressing the first session of two-day Islamabad Security Dialogue titled "Comprehensive National Security" in Islamabad today (Wednesday), he said a comprehensive security framework has been formulated in this regard. He said the economic security is the central point and goal of this framework.

Moeed Yusuf said Pakistan wants to be the hub for economic activities in the world due to its geo-economic location.

Retired Ambassador Fauzia M Sana, Retired Ambassador Riaz H Khokhar, Retired Lt Gen Aamir Riaz, Retired Ambassador Riaz Muhammad Khan and Former US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter also addressed this session.

Addressing the second session of the Dialogue titled "Economic Security at the Core", Commerce Advisor Abdul Razak Dawood said a strong economy will enhance country s power and strengthen National Security.

He said industrial, Energy, Food, Connectivity, Financial Security and Economic Diplomacy are pillars of our Economic Security. He said history has shown that economic backwardness leads to social conflicts and political turmoil and thus weakens national security. He said our geo-strategic location has to be complemented with geo-economics.

Retired Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Sadaat, Former Governor State Bank Dr Shamshad Akhtar addressed the session while Dr. Usman W Chohan, Dr Miles Kohler, Dr Joseph Adly and Haroon Sharif spoke vitually.
