Senate election: Jamaat-e-Islami abstained from voting in Center and Sindh
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - On the instructions of party leadership, Jamaat-e-Islami National Assembly member Abdul Akbar Chitrali and Sindh Assembly member Abdul Rashid did not vote for any candidate in today’s Senate election.
Jamaat-e-Islami had earlier announced to abstain from voting in the Senate elections in Sindh and Center.
It may be recalled that recently, PTI’s newly elected Senator Ijaz Chaudhry had an important meeting with Jamaat-e-Islami leader Amir-ul-Azeem. After that, Jamaat-e-Islami had announced its non-participation from the Senate elections in Sindh and Center.
Ijaz Chaudhry had appealed for cooperation in the Senate elections but Jamaat-e-Islami refused to lend any support.
Ameer-ul-Azeem said that JI would not be a part of the election process in Islamabad and Sindh, and the party’s adjustment with the opposition would be limited to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa only.
