LHC directs to fix plea for hearing against Ch Nisar for not taking oath as MPA

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed to fix the petition for hearing against former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar for refusing to take oath of the Punjab Assembly.

Justice Shahid Waheed of Lahore High Court heard the petition of Advocate Nadeem Sarwar, in which an early hearing was requested.

The petition stated that Chaudhry Nisar was elected as a member of the Punjab Assembly in the 2018 elections but has not yet taken oath of the office.

According to the petitioner, by not taking oath of office, Khan was not only betraying voters of his constituency who reposed trust in him but he was also violating the Constitution’s Articles 2-A, 17 and 25, therefore the notification of his victory should be declared null and void and new elections should be held in the constituency.

Chaudhry Nisar was elected as member of provincial assembly (MPA) from PP-10 Rawalpindi in the general elections of 2018, however he has not taken oath so far.
