8 killed, 22 injured as bus overturns near Lasbela

LASBELA (Dunya News) – At least eight persons were killed and 22 other were wounded when a bus overturned in Othal area near Lasbela, a coastal district of Balochistan province, in the wee hours of Wednesday, Dunya News reported.

According to details, the ill-fated bus was going to Karachi from Quetta. The bus turned turtle when it reached Othal near Lasbela, killing eight persons on the spot and injuring 22 other.

Rescue teams reached the spot after getting information and shifted the dead and injured to hospital. According to rescue teams, two Levies personnel were also among the dead.

Pakistan has one of the world’s worst records for fatal traffic accidents. Fast and reckless driving, poor road infrastructure and lack of safety precautions lead to a high number accident.

The high accident rate is often attributed to numerous U-turns and dangerous turns on the major roads. Experts are of the opinion that 35 percent of the road accidents are caused by the faulty designing of the roads.
