Rai Tahir appointed as new Inspector General (IG) Balochistan
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government has decided to transfer Inspector General (IG) of Balochistan Mohsin Hassan Butt and appoint Rai Tahir as his replacement.
According to sources, Rai Tahir, who is currently serving as Additional IG CTD Punjab, is being appointed as the new IG Balochistan. The decision was taken on Friday, at a high level meeting in Islamabad.
Rai Tahir has been working as part of CTD Punjab for the past six years, during which time, his performance regarding counter-terrorism has been satisfactory.
According to sources, the decision has been taken in the context of recent terrorism incidents in Balochistan. It is hoped that after taking charge, Rai Tahir will be able to use his extensive experience to put a clamp on terrorism in the province.
