Smart lockdown imposed in 13 areas of Karachi's District West

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Smart lockdown was imposed in 13 localities of District Went in Karachi today (Saturday) for a period 14 days due to spike in number of coronavirus cases in the city, Dunya News reported.

According to Deputy Commissioner, District West, MD Dharijo, smart lockdown will remain in force from today (December 5) to December18 in the COVID-19 affected areas of the district.

The 14-day smart lockdown was imposed in Baldia Town, Islamnagar, Saeedabad, Mohajir Camp, Maymarabad, Metroville, Gadap, Keamari, Yousuf Goth, Data Nagar, Hanifabad, Pak Colony, and Frontier Colony.

The Deputy Commissioner further informed that all coronavirus-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be strictly enforced in the affected areas during the smart lockdown.

He said that all businesses will remain closed, with the exception of grocery stores, medical stores and shops selling essential items.

Pakistan has reported 55 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus and the number of positive cases has surged to 410,072. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 8,260 on Friday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 3,262 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
