Birth anniversary of Dr. Allama Iqbal being observed today

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday paid tribute to Pakistan’s national poet Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his 143rd birth anniversary.

Taking to his official Twitter account, PM Imran Khan wrote that Iqbal’s thoughts continue to inspire and guide us. “He is a great mystic, with a pure spirit, delivered of materiality and, at the same time, a man who respects and honors science, technological progress, and the advancement of human reason in our age.”

He also shared renowned Iranian revolutionary and sociologist, Dr Ali Shariati’s article about Iqbal.

Earlier, the investiture ceremony of change of guard was held at mausoleum of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal in Lahore on Monday. A contingent of Pakistan Navy assumed the responsibility of guard from Pakistan Rangers.

Station Commander of Pakistan Navy Commodore Naimat-ullah Khan was chief guest on this occasion who laid floral wreath at the mausoleum and offered prayer. He also penned down his comments in Visitors’ book and paid tribute to national poet.

Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar also laid a wreath on the grave of Allama Muhammad Iqbal at Hazoori Bagh and offered Fateha on birth anniversary of national poet.

On the occasion, Usman Buzdar said that Allama Iqbal promoted peace and brotherhood through his poetry and one can achieve success by following values of the national poet.
