PDM leadership meets to discuss political situation, future plan of action
PML-N is being represented by former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A meeting of the opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is underway to discuss the overall political situation of the country.
The participants of the meeting, who are meeting first time after an interview of Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, are deliberating upon the alliance’s future course of action and its November 22 meeting scheduled to be held in Peshawar.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is being represented by former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi while another former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf is representing the People’s Party.
Moreover, JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Akram Durrani and Awami National Party’s Mian Iftikhar Hussain are also present in the meeting.
The meeting will discuss future of anti-government campaign after Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that he was shocked to hear Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif directly accusing military leadership during his speech in Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) Gujranwala rally.
In an interview with BBC Urdu, the PPP leader said that taking names of military leaders was Nawaz Sharif’s personal choice as he has his own party and rules. It was decided in the PDM agenda to use ‘establishment’ word and not to take name of any national institution, he told.
Bilawal Bhutto said that he is waiting for evidence by ex-PM to prove his allegations. Due to intensifying coronavirus situation, I am unable to meet the PML-N supremo. However, a formal discussion with Nawaz Sharif is required for complete details on this issue, he went on to say.
