Tariq Bashir Cheema attributes alliance discord to CM Punjab's lack of empowerment

LAHORE (Dunya News) - PML-Q Secretary General Tariq Bashir Cheema has said that if the Chief Minister of Punjab had been empowered, matters would not have deteriorated to this level. Only the Prime Minister and his superiors can tell who is running the Punjab province, he said.

Tariq Bashir Cheema has said that we are not involved in government formation or decision making. He said that if we have become unimportant to the PM, we will make our own path forward but we are still willing to work together to secure national interest, national security, public ‘-being and resolution of issues.

Talking to Dunya News program "Nuqta-e-Nazar", he said that PML-Q does not intend to leave the government. All we ask for is to work together to address issues of public interest, such as controlling inflation, he added.

Answering a question, he said that PML-Q’s reservations with Usman Buzdar are of a similar nature but the buck stops at the PM. Can t the province handle the affairs of farmers and cultivators, he asked

He said that at the Prime Minister s luncheon, he was bombarded with complaints. “I myself am a Federal Minister yet I have not met the Prime Minister in the past 7-8 months”, he said.

The Prime Minister has had only one meeting with our leadership in the last two years, despite making multiple visits to Lahore, he said.

Cheema said that we have repeatedly expressed our concerns, we can advise him ‘ in the public interest if he meets us. The biggest problem is farmers and their issues, we must facilitate them as they are the ones who brought us into power.
