Pakistan, Kashmiris across the world observed Black Day
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan and Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world observed Black Day on Tuesday, to convey to the world that they reject India’s illegal occupation of their motherland.
The day is marked every year to express support and solidarity with Kashmiri people in their just struggle for right to self-determination and remind the United Nations and the international community of its commitments regarding the resolution of this longstanding dispute.
According to the details, call for observance of the day was given by All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other pro-freedom organizations.
The day was marked by shutdown in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
On 27th October in 1947 Indian troops had invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in total violation of the essence of Partition Plan of the subcontinent and against the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
In a statement in Srinagar, the Hurriyat forum appealed to the Kashmiris living across the globe to hold anti-India and pro-freedom rallies and protests on the day to draw world’s attention towards the unresolved Kashmir dispute and the suffering of the people living in the occupied territory.
Meanwhile, posters continued to surface in Srinagar and other areas appealing people to observe complete shutdown on Tuesday to register their protest against India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. The posters were displayed by different pro-freedom organizations.
To mark the Black Day, seminars and rallies were held in different parts of the country. Instructions were also given to Pakistani missions abroad to organize events and engage with Pakistani Diaspora, local parliamentarians, think-tanks and other relevant people to highlight significance of the day.
