Maryam Nawaz rules out holding dialogue with PTI government

QUETTA (Dunya News) - PML-N senior vice president Maryam Nawaz has said that she is not accustomed to backdoor diplomacy and will bring down the government democratically. She said that she would consider it a sin to talk with the PTI government.

Talking to media persons in Quetta on Saturday, the PML-N leader said that it was the duty of the state to listen to those who are disgruntled, adding that bringing those people into the national mainstream would strengthen the country.

She said that when things go wrong, defiant voices are bound to be raised. “Real political parties will not go against the public opinion”, she said.

"We waited to see how well these people would govern, but they failed," said the senior vice-president. Now, the public recognizes what a mafia actually is and they won’t let PTI government last long.

Maryam Nawaz said that she is not accustomed to backdoor diplomacy, PTI government will end through democratic means. She warned that those who formed parties by swiping other party leaders in Balochistan will be held accountable.

She said that if the opposition gives resignations from the assemblies, the government will be done for. However, there is no possibility of martial law being imposed due to our movement, she added.

Earlier, Maryam Nawaz said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was trying to raise his stature by using Nawaz Sharif’s name. When a small man is placed at a high seat, he has to keep taking big names, she said

She said that arrest of Captain (retd) Safdar was an embarrassment for federal government and now PM Imran Khan himself needs a NRO.

Speaking of the October 19 arrest of her husband Captain (retired) Safdar Awan in Karachi, she said that there was no need to hold an inquiry into the incident; however, the Sindh government has the right to investigate the issue.

She also confirmed that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will address Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rally in Quetta via video link.

The PML-N leader lashed out at the government and said PTI’s focus is only on Nawaz Sharif while Pakistanis are crying over flour and sugar prices as inflation soars.

She said the public has joined the PDM movement and the government’s days are numbered. How can you trust a person who doesn’t understand how to remain dignified under pressure, she asked.

Maryam has arrived in Quetta to attend Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rally in the provincial capital, to be held on October 25.
