Court approves interim bail of PML-N's Khurram Dastgir in Gujranwala rally case
The judge has directed to not arrest Khurram Dastgir till October 26
GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) – Sessions court on Friday has approved the interim bail of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khurram Dastgir in a case related to attempt to murder and interference in government affairs during the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) Gujranwala rally.
According to details, the judge has directed to not arrest the PML-N leader till October 26 and sought complete record of the case.
Earlier, three separate cases were registered against PDM administration in connection with holding Gujranwala rally.
The first case was lodged over violating coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the rally. PML-N leaders Khurram Dastgir Khan, Mahmood Rasheed Virk and Salman Khalid Butt were nominated in the first information report (FIR). Provisions related to violating SOPs and blocking roads were included in the case.
Separately, a complaint was registered under Punjab Sound Act at Shahdara police station, booking Maryam Nawaz, Captain (r) Safdar, Pervaiz Malik, Malik Riaz, Saif-ul-Malook and others.
In another case, PML-N leaders Khurram Dastgir, Imran Khalid and Salman Khalid were nominated under the sections of attempt to murder, interference in government affairs and destroying public properties.
On October 16, 2020, the PDM had conducted its first anti-government rally at Gujranwala’s Jinnah Stadium.
PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto, and PDM president and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman were present at the venue.
