Opposition outcry denies PM Imran opportunity to address NA

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - In today’s National Assembly session, the opposition’s intense protest did not allow proceedings to continue, prompting Prime Minister Imran Khan to leave without addressing the assembly. Speaker Asad Qaiser adjourned the session till 4 pm on Monday.

When the National Assembly session began under the chairmanship of Speaker Asad Qaiser, the opposition started protesting and chanted slogans that the government of flour and sugar thieves will not work.

Amidst the government and opposition members’ face-off, the Speaker temporarily adjourned the session, but to no avail. PPP’s Naveed Qamar said that the National Assembly session was convened on the 16th, the day PDM leadership and party members are occupied with a rally in Gujranwala. There is no parliament without the opposition, he said.

During the session, Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Babar Awan introduced a bill to further amend the Election Act 2017 while the Joint Maritime and Information Organization Bill was postponed. The opposition’s continued protest and slogans in the House forced the Speaker to adjourn the session till 4 pm on Monday.
