20-point code of conduct prepared to promote harmony among all sects
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A 20-point code of conduct has been prepared in a meeting of religious scholars chaired by Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noor-ul-Haq to promote harmony among all sects.
The 20-point code of conduct has the signatures of scholars from all sects. The meeting was attended by Chairman Islamic Ideological Council Qibla Ayaz, Mufti Taqi Usmani, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Prof Sajid Mir, Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jalandhari, Dr Ragheb Naeemi and other religious personalities.
The Unified Code of Conduct states that all citizens have a duty to recognize the Constitution of Pakistan. All citizens should fulfill their oath of allegiance with the state. The Islamic structure of the Constitution of Pakistan and the laws of Pakistan will be protected.
According to the code of conduct, citizens have the right to peacefully fight for the implementation of Sharia. All forms of armed action, violence and anarchy will be considered rebellion.
In addition, it has been said that no one has the right to declare government, armed forces and other security personnel as infidels. Scholars and leaders should support the state and the armed forces to end the violence.
The code of conduct says to refrain from being part of linguistic, regional and religious movements against the state. No one should spread sectarian hatred.
