Punjab govt bound sugar mills for timely payments: CM Buzdar

Sugarcane growers have been paid over Rs 175 billion till now.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Saturday that the provincial government bound the sugar mills for timely payments to sugarcane growers.

The Punjab CM said in his statement that payments of around Rs 24 crore were ensured in the past one week. The growers did not receive their rights under the tenure of former governments and protested on roads, he said.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has protected the rights of farmers. Sugarcane growers have been paid over Rs 175 billion till now on the directions of Usman Buzdar.
