NAB committed for logical conclusion of white collar crimes, mega corruption cases

He said that Bureau believes in a corruption-free Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Wednesday said that corruption is the root of all evils and the anti-graft watchdog is committed to bring white collar crimes and mega-corruption cases to a logical conclusion.

According to a statement issued by the anti-graft agency, he said that Bureau believes in a corruption-free Pakistan based on its national anti-corruption strategy, awareness and enforcement.

He said that the NAB is the focal person under the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) while Pakistan has signed the UNCAC, adding that the World Economic Forum, Transparency International Pakistan, PILDAT and Mashal Pakistan have appreciated the efforts of the watchdog to eradicate corruption.

Javed Iqbal said that the Bureau has focused on corruption, money laundering, misuse of power, mass fraud, bank fraud, intentional bank default and embezzlement of government funds.

The NAB chairman went on to say that 53,643 complaints had been received in 2019 out of which 42,760 had been disposed of while in 2018, the Bureau received 48,591 complaints out of which 41,414 were disposed of.
