Punjab testing for Covid-19 according to WHO rules: Dr Yasmeen Rashid

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid has said that today, a total of 487 people tested positive for coronavirus in Punjab. She affirmed that Punjab is conducting testing according to the rules given by the World Health Organization.

Talking to Dunya News’ program "Nuqta-e-Nazar", Dr. Yasmeen Rashid said that the provinces are not in a competition, it is a matter of fact that the number of cases in Punjab has decreased. She said that testing was being done in accordance with WHO directives, including a lot of random testing.

Answering a question, she said that false news was spread about an exorbitant amount being paid as rent for the Expo Center. She clarified that the government will only pay electricity and gas bills of Rs 15.1 million. She said that we have devised a backup plan for the expo center, and currently only 1,100 patients are admitted there.

Talking about Eid-ul-Adha, she said that strict SOPs have been set up for cattle markets, including compulsion of masks in order to enter the market. She stressed upon the need to opt for collective sacrifice as it would provide multiple benefits including reduced waste. So far, 25% of people have applied for collective sacrifice, she revealed.
