Shehbaz submits bail request after doctors advised to rest three weeks

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Doctors have advised former Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is suffering from coronavirus, to rest for three more weeks. An application for extension of interim bail submitted by Shehbaz has been fixed for hearing in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

A two-member bench of LHC headed by Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem will hear the petition of Shehbaz Sharif on Monday. Shehbaz Sharif had filed a petition through Advocate Amjad Pervez. On the other hand, Shehbaz Sharif has decided not to appear before the court.

The petition contends that the LHC has granted interim bail to Shehbaz Sharif in the Assets beyond means case and National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) inquiry into money laundering case. Bail bonds of Rs 5 lakh have also been submitted after the bail application was approved.

The petition said that the bail bonds were to be signed by Shahbaz Sharif, but the petitioner s coronavirus test came positive. Mayo Hospital professors and doctors at Ittefaq Hospital have advised Shehbaz Sharif to rest for another three weeks.

The petition also enclosed the medical certificates received from Mayo Hospital and Ittefaq Hospital and said that Shahbaz Sharif should be exempted from appearing in person on interim bail for 3 weeks.
