ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan Wednesday gave last chance to the Ministry of Housing and Works to evacuate the government houses which have been occupied illegally.

A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed conducted hearing of the suo motu case and declared the housing ministry’s report unsatisfactory.

The apex court said that officers get themselves allotted government houses despite owing personal residences and directed the housing ministry to submit report signed by secretary.

Justice Gulzar Ahmed said, “The submitted report is based on lies. Government officers have rented out the houses which have been allotted to them. The residences are for government employees, not for public.

“Get the homes evacuated with the help of police otherwise workers of the housing ministry will lose their jobs. Submit report to the court in two months after taking action and get the pending cases in subordinate courts dismissed by showing the SC orders.”

The counsel argued that Islamabad police have occupied the Capital Development Authority (CDA) houses. Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked that this is government’s issue. The hearing was adjourned for two months.
