CM Buzdar for strict mandatory face mask implementation

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has ordered strict implementation of the directive on wearing masks across the province and said that mask wearing in public places, markets, shops and parks will be implemented and violators will be prosecuted.

According to details, a high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to review the latest coronavirus situation and the steps taken by the government.

CM Buzdar was also briefed about the steps being taken for the treatment of patients. Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Chief Secretary Punjab, Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Medical Specialist Dr Mahmood Shaukat and other concerned officials attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that citizens must wear a mask when going outside their homes as it is necessary for their safety, something which is the foremost priority of the government.

He said that no expense would be spared in the treatment of coronavirus patients. The province still has spare beds and ventilators in its hospitals and necessary medicines are also available for their treatment. To give relief to the province’s health system, the government has allowed patients to self isolate at home as well, he added.

Usman Buzdar said that it is the joint responsibility of all of us to stop the spread of the virus while the government continues taking necessary steps to safeguard the livelihoods of the people. He warned however, that businesses being permitted to operate is subject to implementation of SOPs. Violation of SOPs will result in action being taken against those establishments.

He said that the services of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff engaged in the treatment of corona patients are commendable and saluted the efforts of doctors, nurses and paramedics in this hour of trial.
