SC hears Centaurus Mall case, rebukes Islamabad mayor

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The mayor of Islamabad was severely reprimanded during the hearing of the Centaurus Mall case in the Supreme Court. The court remarked that, the Mayor is spoiling his position in front of the Court. He doesn’t look like a serious man, so far he has gotten Rs 18 billion but still Islamabad’s streets are filled with filth, the court remarked.

During the hearing of the case, the Mayor of Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz took a stand that the bureaucracy is not in the favor of elections in Islamabad that is why they are not being allowed to function. The Home Secretary told the court that so far Rs 18 billion has been given to the Municipal Corporation of Islamabad.

Expressing anger, Justice Umar Ata Bandial said that there was filth everywhere in Islamabad. The Chief Justice said that Mr. Mayor! You are spoiling your position in front of us, what are you waiting for?

The court formed a committee to review the powers of Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Ansar Aziz and gave the committee one month to submit its findings.
