Punjab cabinet meeting decides to further ease lockdown

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab government has decided to ease the lockdown restrictions imposed due to the Novel coronavirus. Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Anti-Coronavirus measures, where it was agreed that recommendations of opening different departments and institutions, according to the SOPs defined by the government, would be forwarded to the federal government.

According to details, in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the participants presented suggestions and recommendations for the prevention of Coronavirus and it was decided in principle to ensure implementation on covering the mouth and nose. Under government recommendations, the administration, police and traffic wardens will be able to warn people who do not cover their mouths and noses.

Interviews of one thousand female doctors were also allowed in the meeting after which the Public Service Commission will be able to conduct written examination and interviews under strict SOPs while the National Command and Control Center (NCOC) will be informed of the decision to allow new recruitments.

Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) will be consulted for permission to locally manufacture ventilators and respirators. The decision to open parks in the province, deciding new business hours for commercial establishments and a two-day holiday has also been made conditional to the NCOC.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Usman Bazdar said that a request would be made to the federal government to provide 1,500 ventilators. The instructions of the federal government regarding opening of restaurants, cafes etc, would be followed.
